The known: RPS is a responsive HTML5 game where users play against random folks or friends. Users have custom avatars and skins that they upgrade with in-game currency.
The unknown: What makes this version of Rock Paper Scissors exciting?
The answer, found through art direction: Rock Paper Scissors, but play as cats and dogs.
First, I had to sell the Coolmath Games team on the cats and dogs concept by illustrating that pet paws can have silhouettes that read as well as hands. Then we decided which aspects of the pets would be customizable, allowing for plenty of fun and variety. The game launched with 12 breeds, 6 faces, 9 hats, 6 accessories, 9 fur patterns, and 6 toe beans.  I created all of the art assets and provided the developer with a guide for implementation.
The user journey and wireframes were created in collaboration with Paolo Salcedo in Figma. I designed the final UI using both Figma and Illustrator. To simplify localization, clean and straightforward icons were used for customization menus.
